To Become a UK Lawyer: 3 Steps Are Required
There are 3 steps to becoming a solicitor or barrister in the UK. These steps cannot, in most cases, be avoided.
Step 1: Obtain a qualifying law degree; £12K - £20K+.
Step 2: Undertake the mandatory Legal Practice Course to become a solicitor, or the Bar Vocational course to become a barrister; £15K+.
Step 3: Obtain a training contract from a law firm, which is the UK Law Society/Bar Council requirement.
Please Note: Step 3 is, by far, the most difficult, therefore, if you are already over 25 years old, we encourage you to give a great deal of thought to these 3 steps before starting on the long, costly, and uncertain road to becoming a UK lawyer.
